Can't Tell The Difference January 4, 2009 M. Karazim (Lansing, MI) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
Let me just start out by saying that I was not expecting much from this dishwashing liquid. This is the first Seventh Generation product I have purchased after seeing their products in several stores and always feeling a bit curious. I was using Dawn and was perfectly happy with it, but recently I have been on a "green" binge and decided to try biodegradable laundry detergent and dish soap. I read reviews that said this dish liquid doesn't suds up like Dawn or Palmolive, and that it doesn't cut through the grease and leave the dishes as clean. I have to disagree.
I have always been a person who uses "too much" soap when washing dishes, so I may use more than is necessary, but I found that the dish liquid had just as many bubbles, if not more, than Dawn. I love the scent, it is nice and doesn't smell fake or chemical like some of the regular brands. I compared a glass I washed with Dawn and a glass I washed with Seventh Generation, and they looked the same. I couldn't tell the difference! I even asked my husband to give his opinion about the amount of suds in the sink compared to Dawn, and he said it looked like there were more bubbles than normal. I use gloves, so I can't comment on how soft my hands were after using it. It is much cheaper on Amazon if you subscribe and save, since I paid over four dollars for it at my local health food store. Bottom line is that I like it and I will continue to buy it.
Does the job well, good for environment December 4, 2008 slaphappy 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
As others have said, Seventh Generation products are usually great; they're good for the environment and easy on sensitive skin. I like the lemongrass and clementine scent best although the lavender and mint is pretty good, too. This cleans better than most other non-toxic, all natural dish detergents. It suds up well and cleans very well, and lasts a long time. I go through about a bottle every 3-4 weeks, but I wash a lot of dishes. We're a family of 5 that usually has a lot of people over, and eat almost every meal at home - and I still use the dishwasher at least once each day.
I only buy this on sale at Amazon, usually through subscribe and save. At our local stores, this is over $3 per bottle, but at Amazon, it usually works out to just over $2. The shipments have changed from 12 bottles/package to 6 bottles/package, which is nice because it's hard to store a dozen bottles of dish liquid.
WARNING: more watery than the average dishsoap...don't over-squeeze May 13, 2009 Dominique W 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have recently started using the Seventh Generation dishsoap after a long and exclusive relationship with Mrs. Meyer's dish soap.
The main thing to remember about Seventh Generation is that the consistancy of this soap is like water. It's very easy to over-squeeze. A little does go a long way. There are suds. The fragrance (at least of the lavender based scent) is very minimal. There is also a free and clear version that has no scent at all.
This product does a great job cleaning my dishes. Glasses shine. No streaks when I leave the dishes to dry in the drainer. My pots don't require a great deal of extra scurbbing. There is no aftertaste left on anything (a problem I occasionally had with another brand). It is gentle on my hands. I couldn't ask for much more.
I do have to say that the scent is minimal. I am not a fan of lavender. Actually, I hate the smell of lavender but have had no issues with the smell of the Seventh Generation lavender based scented dishsoap.
The price point is also very good in comparison to other green products. Love that fact as well.
Overall excellent product that I highly recommend.
Good Product April 30, 2009 D. Hildebrand (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Basic - simple - no perfumes - no fragrance and no adverse reactions for folks like me who are sensitive - Gentle enough to use as hand or body soap, even shampoo in a pinch, but still strong enough for dish washing. Highly recommended.
Seventh Generation items rock! November 29, 2008 CjTaz (WV, USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
We really love this dish liquid. I was so happy to find an economical and non toxic dish liquid that is also very gentle on my hands! This pack of 6 will last us all year. It makes me smile when I go to wash dishes!
